Womanhood to me, From The World

One can ask, “What is womanhood to you?”, I would say womanhood is about being a keeper. Women take on the role of maintaining peace, proclaiming love and sharing gifts.

Like a Maasai woman, who is a housekeeper in the family, she bares children, takes care of them and sometimes works in the field to produce food, while her husband herds for months in the wilderness.

A woman is a keeper, a carer, a lover and a protector. What makes me proud to be a woman, is seeing and reading about all the other African women from history. These women were hard-working. I am proud to be a woman because it gives me the power to consider my life and say "If she could do it, without cars or internet or electricity, let alone running water, I can do it too".

In my two decades of being on this earth, I cannot say I have encountered serious challenges around being a woman, except for stereotypes. These may seem minor, but they affect the mind. Sometimes young women like me lose their self-esteem and self-worth because of these stereotypes. I believe every person is beautiful because beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. So, to all the women out there:
